7 Quick Takes (Vol XI)
What they still let me on this thing!?! I’ve been the worst this past couple months about writing and so much fun stuff has happened!

A few weeks back I was reading a new years post by Aromas y Sabores, one of the many blogs I enjoy following, and she posted:
I cannot but notice how some bloggers/blogs are (according to me) giving the wrong message: You must eat/travel/make/see/wear whatever they fancy otherwise your life will be pointless and boring. Just between you and me, that makes me very sad because I believe we (bloggers) are creating and shaping new stupid `necessities´. Is like nowadays bloggers where the only ones who have the recipe for happiness and if you kind reader don´t succeed to perfectly bake the prettiest and cutest cupcake while looking gorgeous, blog-tweet-instagram about it (of course) well if you don´t achieve that you are a failure…
And I thought, “That’s why I can’t write!” I’m so desperately wanting an audience I am failing at the most basic idea for this blog. To record OUR life, even if I don’t feel that others find it as interesting. Though I can’t help but think that it’s easy to make that observation when you have beautiful photos to post daily.

Aside from writing something I haven’t done in a while is clean! My home usually is a good reflection of my mood and now it’s a bit chaotic. Work stress. Blah. I need to just attack it and get it done!

On a Target run this past week I walked by a really cute dress. I’m not much of a shopper but I really loved the dress so I grabbed it to take it to the fitting room. Then I decided to look around the same area to see if I could find any other cute options. That’s when I saw the tag on all the other dresses EXCEPT for the one in my hand, “Maternity”. Why would all the dresses aside from the one in my hand be maternity!?! I didn’t want to look but I knew I had to and sure enough it was a maternity dress!
This isn’t the first time this has happened which is why it’s frustrating. I have a strange attraction to maternity clothes. I put the dress back and headed to for the door! Then I saw a dress that was okay but I wasn’t in love with it. It didn’t matter. I grabbed a small because that’s the size I am because I’m NOT pregnant and went straight for the check out. The dress was $35 but I took it anyway immediately feeling buyers remorse. I tried to reason as to why I needed the dress but I couldn’t come up with anything so it went back.
At least I know when I’m expecting I will have impeccable clothing taste! For the purposes of this post I image searched maternity dresses and look what I found! It’s expandable!
Okay that’s the last maternity dress I’ll admire until we start having babies!

I’m training again. This time it’s for a half marathon that is in 6 weeks and then I hope to complete another one with a personal record in the Fall. But the super über trick that will top the cake is training for half marathons all year and secretly ending up training for a full marathon that will take place next January! Mind games, I tell you! It’s the only way to get myself to do something!
But seriously, this past Sunday was the one year anniversary of the worst marathon fail in the history of marathons. The pain of that self defeat still lingers and as I watched a friend complete the same marathon this year (stress fracture and all) I resolved to redeem myself in 2013!!!

On a more fun note (because everyone knows running is not fun!) seeing my determination Mark took me on a little training clothes spree this weekend! We bought me a new swim suit, a tri suit (not the prettiest but it was on sale for an unbeatable price), and new running shoes which I’m allowed to do nothing other than running in!
This was the conversation that took place just minutes after discussing that I shouldn’t be wearing my running shoes like regular shoes to run errands.
Mark: So what else are you going to use those new running shoes for?
Me: What? I don’t know? Cyclying?
Mark: Nothing! You don’t use running shoes for anything else.
Me: Oh yea.
I promise him I do listen to him when he talks!

This past week since I’ve began running again we’ve also been taking the dogs to the park a lot. I don’t know that they’re related but it could be because I get a guilt trip every time I run out the door by Maya. She jumps up and down with excitement and then gives me the worst puppy eyes ever when I tell her she’s not going with me. Either way Chicle has enjoyed the fruits of my guilt. Here is a funny moment Mark captured, as usual. That dog worries me with his obsession.

Maya on the other hand isn’t a fan of dog parks. She wonders around a bit to check out the other dogs but she’s constantly looking back to make sure I’m still there. The last time we were there she saw that Mark was headed to the exit and ran to meet him. She never saw that I was behind him, so she ran back to the packs of people and began to sniff all the women. She was looking for me! When she finally caught my scent you could see her face light up and she bolted to me! I thought it was so cute that she went back for me! I knew that dog loved me!

Speaking of being loved, last week after cleaning up the house I decided that I should make my husband breakfast. This is a rare occurrence in our home; sad I know. So I fried up some slices of tortilla, beat the eggs, and cut the jalapeño and onions. The onion was strong and the tears flowed but I just wiped them away and kept on truckin’.
After eating breakfast with my loving my husband, we chatted over coffee about various topics. Then I decided it was probably time for me to straighten up for the day. I went to the mirror and there I was looking busted as ever! I had a huge streak of maschera across my cheek from below my eye. I said “Mark! I know that happened while I was cutting the onions, so I just made breakfast, served it, ate, and then had great conversation with you all while having this huge streak on my face!” And all he said was “Yea.” I couldn’t believe he didn’t bother to tell me how crazy I looked! And his response “You’re my wife. It didn’t matter.” I love that man!
